About

Why am I doing a food blog? I’m a photographer by trade, however growing up as a vegetarian and cooking for my friends and family I was often asked for veggie recipe ideas. My style of cooking is using easily accessible ingredients to create no fuss, taste driven and nutritious meals. So, I suppose I’m doing P for Peckish to keep me on my toes, encouraging me to come up with new food ideas and share them, with you!

A few years ago, I did an article for The Times on the positives of Meat Free Monday, I cooked a meal for the journalist who then suggested that I do a veggie cookbook. I thought about it for while… and then decided to do it. I had no idea what I was letting myself in for. My first book FOOD developed from scribbled down recipes, testing them out on friends and family before photographing them. In the beginning you could say, a very naive one-woman band!

I love to eat food that is satisfying and has lots of flavour but… when you look closer at the ingredients, they are nutritious and have real food value. So the balance is always, moderate indulgence combined with healthy eating. I want to be healthy but I don’t want food to be dull, it doesn’t have to be. I’ve always found that if I eat purely for health then I get bored, and end up snacking on junk food. Pointless.

I have now written my second cookbook, At My Table, which is full of new menus and recipe ideas for feasting with family and friends, based around my food philosophy.

Which pretty much brings us up to date. I love thinking about new food combinations and recipes, therefore I thought a food blog would be a good outlet for those spontaneous moments of creativity. P for Peckish is where I can post new recipes, information and inspiration.

I hope you enjoy.
